The Way, The Truth, and The ???
Just a little rant. This is an ad that was in a local coupon magazine recently. It's from a Christian Store that is "under new ownership" and their slogan is"Encouraging and equipping you to endure to the end". I understand what they are going for, but I agree with Monica's take that they could just as easily be advertising hospice services. If I don't already know God, this sure doesn't lead me to believe that there is any reason to want to. It sounds more like "Come shop here, and we can all hunker down together and wait for death to set us free from this miserable life..." Hopefully they have friends that will constructively advise them that maybe a new advertising slogan is in order... unless, of course, they plan to expand into health care for the terminally ill.

Hey, Big Brutha...Little-bro Jay, here. I like your blog. Good place to share your ideas, passions, & occasionally unload some "rants". :) Okay, this posting is lonely, since nobody has commented on him (the posting) yet. So, here goes: (..and this is a friendly "on the flip-side" type of post.) I totally understand what you mean...Life in Christ is absolutely exciting, enjoyable, and fulfilling. But also, according to Jesus, it won't always be easy. I don't know anything about this particular store...However, maybe their new owners have experienced what Jesus said, "Mar 13:13 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved." Or through Paul, "2Ti 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution." And..."2Ti 2:3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ."--among other similar passages. Seems like their slogan is more for Christian customers than for lost people. I agree that we shouldn't try to discourage the lost by telling them it's too hard, but it is an all or nothing decision...and it includes some rejection from others. Make it too fun & frilly, and the seed falls onto stony ground...and "when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended." I understand what you're saying...but I understand what the slogan means, too. Just a thought! See ya.
Good perspective. It makes me remember how I was before I knew God. I got ticked off anytime I pulled up behind somebody with a Christian bumper sticker, regardless of the content.(1Cor.1:18)
Since they are obviously targeting Christians with the ad, it may not matter what the slogan is when it comes to somebody glancing at it that doesn't yet have a relationship with God. They would most likely completely disregard or disapprove of it just based on the words "Christian Store".
This entire ad is offensive! It contains the most offensive symbol on Earth! The name of Christ is offensive. The Words of Christ are offensive. Even His disciples were offended at His Words. (John 6:61) Those who align themselves with Christ, believers, are offensive! (2 Cor. 2:16)
